Hot springs

There are many hot springs in Tokachi. There is a diversity of spring quality and it is dotted with mineral springs, moor springs, and non-volcanic springs. Obihiro City's hot springs are very dear to the locals in the forms of public baths and hot springs.

Obihiro City is a food-supply base with a food self-sufficiency rate of 1100%. Due to the clean air and water, the harvests of the sea and fields are fresh. Food safety and security is always being researched.

Sweets

Nukabirako is dotted with arch bridges (33 bridges). The old Shihorosen arch bridges are heritage of Hokkaido. Viewing platforms along national road 273 are view spots.

Yachiyo Farm

A farm that stretches out at the foot of the Poroshiri-dake peaks, which overlook the fields of Tokachi. 1500 head of cattle are grazing, and there is a lodging and training facility where you can have a learning experience. At the restaurant 'Cowbell House', you can eat the dishes that utilize locally-produced ingredients.

Shikaribetsu Lake Kotan

■ Shikaribetsu Lake Kotan
Kotan is a phantom village which is created every year from late-January to late-March on the frozen Shikaribetsu lake. 'Igloo' buildings made of ice and water are created and become ice bars, concert halls, and ice theaters. There is a pervasive sense of openness with things such as a an open-air bath on the ice--unique in the world.

Held from late-January to late-February. Under the freezing ground and twinkling stars, countless lights create a mysterious space in this winter event.

Banei Horseracing

World-class horseracing. Large 1-ton horses pull 1-ton iron sleighs at high speeds competing around a 200m linear course. Every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday are viewing days (year-round). Registered as a Hokkaido heritage.
